Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce assists Lansing families in need at the
beginning of the school year and during the holiday season. In order to accomplish
this, in the past we have purchase backpacks and fill them with school supplies.
The backpacks are then delivered to the schools in August. This year we are
giving digital gift cards for the teachers to buy school supplies with.  Our fundraising
allows us to purchase a certain number of items each year.

Each school counselor works closely with us in November to help one family
from each school. As part of this program, the childrens’ age, gender, size,
interests, and other demographic information are kept completely anonymous.
With our donations, the Chamber purchases everything possible for each child,
including clothes, toys, shoes, and food. The school counselors then deliver
these items to the families. We hold fundraisers to raise funds for the program,
including Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Pancake Breakfast with
Santa sponsored by the Lansing Copper Muggers. We donate all proceeds to
the Family Giving Program. Family Giving receives money raised from our 50/50
raffles at most of our events. Every donation is appreciated, no matter how small.
